Peachland Lions Commendation

Members of the Peachland Lions Club attended Council to receive a special commendation from Mayor Patrick Van Minsel and Peachland Councillors. Mayor Van Minsel presented a certificate of appreciation and a donation cheque for $750 for providing volunteer barbeque food service during the District’s annual Our Peachland Open House & BBQ held June 11. 

 

2024 Annual Report and Statement of Financial Information

Council approved the 2024 Annual Report which includes audited financial statements from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024 as well as objectives and measurements that are tied to Council’s Strategic Priorities and Financial Plans. Council also received the 2024 Statement of Financial Information which provides information on Council and employee remuneration and expenses and a listing of payments over $75,000 during the period of January 1 to December 31, 2024. 2025 Civic Grants

The District received two grant applications for the 2025 Civic Grant program. Council approved the $1,000 grant and gratis use requested for the Peachland Watershed Protection Alliance but increased the civic grant for the Peachland Food Bank to $6,000 for 2025 due to increased need. Year over year dedicated civic grants (for up to three years) were previously approved by Council in 2024. Groups receiving dedicated grants this year are:

 

  • Our Space (Peachland Community Arts Council, Bat Ecological and Educational Society and the Okanagan Folk School, and the Bat Education and Ecological Protection Society) $21,000 

  • Peachland Wellness Centre $15,000 

  • Peachland Citizens on Patrol/Community Police $4,150 

  • Peachland Historical Society $20,000 

  • Peachland Fall Fair $3,000/Gratis Use 

The approved budget for 2025 included an amount of $72,230 for Civic Grants.

 

BC Hydro Electric Vehicle Stations Delayed

Council was advised that new Electric Vehicle charging stations planned by BC Hydro for installation on Beach Avenue have been delayed, with funding redirected to the lower mainland. No new deadline for installation has been provided.
