Permit Information
Residents wishing to obtain a Campfire Permit for properties within the District of Peachland is asked to either email Emergency Services Clerk or stop by the office (250) 767-2841 Monday to Friday 8 am - 4 pm and the permit will be issued
Campfire Regulations:
District of Peachlands Bylaw No. 1718
- 1. No person shall cause or permit smoke from a Campfire in accordance with the following regulations:
- All campfire burning shall be conducted and concluded between 7:00 a.m. (0700hrs) and 11:30 p.m. (2330 hrs) of the same day;
- All fires shall be continuously controlled and supervised by a competent person properly equipped with sufficient fire extinguishing equipment and materials;
- All fires are subject to local fire restrictions and are subject to cancellation at any time by any authority having jurisdiction; Once the campfire ban is in place then your permit is recinded until the fall.
- Only permitted burning materials, including seasoned untreated lumber, shall be used in campfires and firewood must be dry and seasoned; You can only burn Cured (dried) fire wood only. So you can not cut a tree down today and burn it tomorrow it has to have cured (dried) for a min of 1 year.
- NO Construction Waste
- NO Treated Lumber
- NO Pallets
- NO Pine Needles / NO Pine Cones
- NO Compostable materials - leaves, plants, cedar hedges etc.
- NO Cardboard
- A person responsible for open burning shall ensure thatno nuisance smokeis caused and shall be responsible for all cost and expenses resulting from extinguishments of the fire(s).
Safe Fire Distances (see diagram below)
Fire pit = 0.5 metres (50 centimetres) maximum
Around fire pit (circumference) = 1 metre (100 centimetres) of mineral soil
Clear space around circumference = 4 metres from structures, tall grasses, shrubs and trees

Open Burning Season
Open Burning permits are available for eligible properties, 1 hectare (2 _ or more acres) or more in size.
Residents wishing to obtain an Open Burning Permit for properties within the District of Peachland are asked to either email Peachland Fire Rescue or stop by municipal hall, 5806 Beach Ave., during office hours of Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, closed statutory holidays. RDCO Website - Open Burning Information
Open Burning is only permitted on residential property that is 1 hectare (2 _ or more acres) or more in size during the burning season which runs from runs from October to April 30th and is regulated under the District of Peachland Fire & Life Safety Smoke Control 1718 Bylaw.
Before lighting any fire, eligible property owners with a valid permit MUST call the Toll-Free Outdoor Burning Hotline 1-855-262-2876 (BURN).
Both the venting and air quality conditions must be good in order for burning to occur within Central Okanagan fire jurisdictions. This information is also available on the Regional Districts website each day after 8 am.
