Work Hours Extended Due to Heat Warning

Peachland, B.C. - Beginning immediately, the District of Peachland is allowing local construction work to begin earlier due to the ongoing Heat Warning in the region.
Effective from Thursday, August 1 to Tuesday, August 6, permitted construction work can begin at 6 am during the week and at 8 am on the weekend to take advantage of cooler morning temperatures. The District will reassess this notice on Tuesday and notify the public of any changes.
The Central Okanagan is under a Heat Warning from Environment Canada with forecasted temperatures over 36 degrees C expected to continue into next week.
Keep Cool and Hydrated
During extended periods of high temperatures, it's important to stay cool and hydrated.
In Peachland, take a break under the trees at the Splash Pad in Heritage Park on Beach Avenue, open from 7 am to 8 pm during the summer.
The Peachland Community Centre and Swim Bay, also on Beach Avenue, have public drinking fountains and a bottle fill station. Lambly Park, Highway 97 & San Clemente Avenue, has a water fountain, bottle fill station and a dog water fountain.

Work Hours Return to Normal with Removal of Heat Warning
Peachland, B.C. - Now that the Heat Warning for the region has been removed, permitted construction work can no longer begin at 6 am in the District of Peachland.
On July 17, the District announced it would allow local construction work to begin earlier due to a lengthy Environment Canada Heat Warning for the region, allowing workers to take advantage of cooler morning temperatures. Now that temperatures are expected to drop for the next few days, regular work hours, as outlined in the District's Good Neighbour Bylaw, are reinstated.
Work can take place between the hours of 7 am and 9 pm on Monday to Saturday and between 10 am and 6 pm on Sunday and holidays.
The District will continue to monitor weather conditions and will notify the public if a change to work hours is warranted.
