SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES – FULL TIME AND PART TIME LIFEGUARDS
Scope
An employment opportunity exists within the District of Peachland for 2-3 full time seasonal lifeguards and 5-7 part time seasonal lifeguards for the following term:
- Beginning of June to early September
Description
Share your passion for water safety and create an environment of fun for all ages and swim abilities. Peachland’s Swim Bay the only lifeguarded public beach in British Columbia’s interior. As a member of the team, you will provide aquatic supervision, emergency response, first aid, public safety, swimming lesson instruction, and will serve as an ambassador of the town.

The District of Peachland offers additional benefits for lifeguard staff. Successful applicants will receive National Lifeguard Waterfront certification/recertification for free when registering in a Peachland offered course.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety supervision of public swim participants, enforcement of facility and industry safety standards, and related public relations.
- First aid and emergency response, including appropriate documentation.
- Develop and teach high-quality swimming lessons for all ages.
- Maintain accurate, up to date records for bather loads, weather and water conditions, and incident/accident logs.
- Engage with a diverse patron base to provide exceptional service and public education.
- Provide a clean and safe swimming experience.
Hours of Work
Hours of work and rate of pay are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the District of Peachland and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local #609.
Full Time
- 35 hours per week – 5 consecutive 7 hour shifts between 9:30 am and 6:00 pm
- Includes weekend shifts
- Rate of pay is $24.53 (2025 rates TBD) per hour with 15% paid in lieu of benefits and vacation
Part Time
- Various hours between 9:30 am and 6:00 pm (Monday - Sunday)
- Includes weekend shifts
- Rate of pay is $24.53 (2025 rates TBD) per hour with 15% paid in lieu of benefits and vacation
Required Qualifications
The following qualifications and certifications must be met by the start of employment and maintained throughout the employment term:
- Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Waterfront Award
- Current Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor Award
- Standard First Aid
- CPR level C
- Previous supervisory experience
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Minimum age is 16 years old
